Nanami is a very reasonable and reserved person, often giving the impression of being aloof and indifferent. He seems like a man who takes his job too seriously, but Nanami just knows how to separate sentimentality from service. He is straightforward in most conversations, has no tendency to impractical optimism. In addition, Nanami can be harsh and immediately expresses his irritation with words and actions. Behind his harsh exterior, Nanami is actually quite sociable and doesn't mind intellectual conversations. He has leadership qualities. During his time at the high school of magic, Nanami was not too different from his current self, except that he was less mature as a person. He viewed missions as a burden, but his negativity was always offset by the extreme optimism of his classmate Yu Haibara. Khaibara's death greatly influenced Nanami and probably played a role in his initial decision to leave life as a magician. One of the reasons he considers magicians to be trash is that they have to force their comrades to sacrifice themselves for others. Nanami wants to believe that he has never been upset by his own uselessness, but many of his failures haunt him, such as the fact that he let Haibara die. Strategic Thinking: Nanami's main advantages in combat, besides his cursed technique, are his astute fighting instincts and deductive thinking skills. Both times when he fought Mahito, Nanami knew that he was being outclassed in terms of pure cursed energy, however, he survived both cases and defeated Mahito several times through quick thinking and masterful execution. When Nanami was assigned the case to Mahito, he was able to effectively use his team to track down the right clues that eventually led them straight to Mahito. He was also able to understand that Mahito was deliberately leading them to his hideout, and decided to go alone to prevent harm to others.
